Job Description

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance, coupled with the ability to foster a culture of safety excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Regularly inspect work areas, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential safety and environmental risks.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and recommend improvements to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver safety, health, and environmental training programs to educate employees about best practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory authorities as required.
  • Monitor air and water quality, waste disposal, and emissions to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Encourage the reporting of near misses, hazards, and unsafe practices, and strive towards continuously improving the safety culture within the organization.
  • Develop and test emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the facility's readiness to manage various emergencies effectively.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of local and international safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks and identify areas for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver training and reports effectively.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle emergencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prior experience in industrial or smelting operations is advantageous.
