Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Regularly inspect work areas, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential safety and environmental risks.
- Develop mitigation strategies and recommend improvements to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver safety, health, and environmental training programs to educate employees about best practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Monitor air and water quality, waste disposal, and emissions to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Encourage the reporting of near misses, hazards, and unsafe practices, and strive towards continuously improving the safety culture within the organization.
- Develop and test emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the facility's readiness to manage various emergencies effectively.
Job Requirement
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP) are preferred.
- Knowledge of local and international safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks and identify areas for improvement.
- Excellent communication skills to deliver training and reports effectively.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle emergencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Prior experience in industrial or smelting operations is advantageous.
